Business Formation & Nonprofit Startup Certificate

How an idea becomes an organization that can open a bank account, sign a contract, and still be standing in five years — entity choice on facts, formation done correctly, and governance that keeps it compliant.

Course 3 is built from the Institute’s nonprofit formation class — the heart of this certificate.

The certificate in three numbers

~40 hours · ~10 weeks

About 4 hours a week at the printed pace, practicums included — you draft real documents as you go.

4 courses · 1 formation packet

Entity selection, first-year compliance, 501(c)(3) formation, and governance — capped by a complete formation packet graded line by line.

$497 · one time · yours

Formation knowledge is a founder’s skill and a consultant’s trade at once: churches and community organizations pay for exactly this, done right.

Khloe, your guide through the Institute's courses

Your guide through the program

Khloe fronts every course in the stack

Open the program and the first face you see is Khloe's. She welcomes you in, walks you through how the program runs, and opens each course with a study-guide briefing — what it covers, what students trip on, and what to do next.

Khloe’s briefings for this program keep one sentence in front of you from the first video: paper first, then doors open.

The Gate — Readiness Review + Capstone

Assemble a complete formation packet — articles, bylaws, an EIN letter checklist, and a first-year compliance calendar — for a fictional organization, or your real one.

  • Certificate Readiness Review — 25 questions at 80%
  • No capstone, no certificate — the artifact is the proof

How the certificate is earned

Small gates, honestly set — then one real artifact

  • Quick Checks — five questions at the end of every lesson cluster; four of five to move on. Miss it, review, retake — no drama, and no surprises saved up for the end.
  • Course Checks — ten questions at 80% at the end of every course in the stack.
  • Certificate Readiness Review — 25 questions at 80%, across the whole stack, before the capstone counts.
  • The capstone artifact — you assemble a complete formation packet, graded line by line. Graded against the program's published checklist. It is the proof the certificate stands on.

This program is education, not legal advice. It teaches formation knowledge and process; complex situations are routed to counsel — and knowing when is part of the training. The credential is a WBI certificate of completion.

After the certificate

Your next door: formed is the starting line

The closing lesson walks two doors: Community Solutions Financial’s done-for-you formation services, for buyers who would rather hire it done; and the Institute’s Grant Readiness & Proposal Writing Certificate — because a formed nonprofit is a grant student by definition.
